MORENO VALLEY — October 26, 2026. Local residents interested in adopting a cat or dog have just days left in Moreno Valley Animal Services’ participation in the ASPCA Rescue Effect promotion, which the city says continues through the end of October.
Where to meet available animals
The municipal shelter is at 14041 Elsworth Street, Moreno Valley. Since August, city officials have promoted rotating adoption specials, including some fee-waived promotions, to encourage responsible homes for shelter animals. That does not mean every pet will have a permanently waived adoption charge on every day; fees and eligibility vary by the particular special.
What adoptive households should consider
People should review the animal’s needs, their own available time, housing rules, veterinary expenses and responsibilities that continue after an adoption. The shelter offers animals of different ages and sizes, and its website provides information about currently available pets. The city’s announcement does not state how many pets remain adoptable today or guarantee a particular breed or age.
Why a local campaign has a national partner
ASPCA coordinates the Rescue Effect campaign with shelters and rescues around the country, and its national initiative includes $2 million in grants across participating organizations for the 2026 program. That is a national total, not a $2 million grant issued to Moreno Valley alone. The city says the campaign is part of broader work to address animal homelessness.
